Operaparken – a green oasis in the heart of the city

Award-winning architecture, sustainable innovation and elegant water art from Fokdal Fountain in Opera Park.
In the heart of Copenhagen, between the Opera House and the waterfront, lies the award-winning Opera Park – a breathtaking green oasis designed by COBE architects. The park, built between 2019 and 2023, is inspired by Copenhagen’s romantic gardens and divided into six unique gardens representing landscapes from around the world. Fokdal Fountain has built the organically shaped water lily pond in the part of the park that bears the name: the Danish oak forest.

Water art as a natural gathering point
In the park’s English garden, an elegant fountain stands as a central eye-catcher. The stylish fountain integrates 18 precisely tuned nozzles that create clear, lively jets at heights between 1 and 1.5 meters. Each jet reflects the sunlight like glittering threads and adds a lively dynamic to the place.
In the North American forest, a reflecting pool with calm water droplets creates a relaxing rhythm that invites contemplation. This pool, also made by Fokdal Springvand, has been designed with precision and care to ensure harmonious integration into the landscape.

Award-winning design
Operaparken’s unique design and sustainable approach have already garnered international recognition. In 2024, Operaparken was honored with several prestigious awards, including:
🏆 ArchDaily’s Building of the Year Award – Public & Landscape Architecture
🏆 Architizer A+Awards – Public Park and Green Space
🏆 Copenhagen Municipality Building Award
