Grønttorvsparken I Valby

On the old green square in Valby, a new district has sprouted, characterized by green oases, a vibrant local environment and community among the many residents. In the middle of it all, Grønttorvsparken stands out and creates a special chic atmosphere in the district, like in a classic Parisian park.

In Grønttorvsparken, many of the old structures from the market halls have been preserved. This gives the park a fantastic structure and a beautiful setting.

The park is built as a classic park with a promenade, a lawn and a reflecting pool made by Fokdal Springvand. As a special tribute to the history of Grønttorv, a plantation filled with edible trees has been created. The old Grønttorv has been moved to new premises in Tåstrup, and on the old square a completely new district has been built with lovely apartments, green spaces and no less than 4 different fountains! The last artwork consists of 7 bronze vessels with running water, distributed throughout the square, and aims to create ideas about presence, sensory experiences and community.

The artwork “The seven fountains of the meanders” by Veo Friis Jespersen was inaugurated on June 1st at the old Grønttorv in Valby.
